Big Sleep & Famine
The youth work at St. Peter’s Church has been linked with the Street Kids Direct Charity for the past 4 years now, and has raised in excess of £20,000 for children in Latin America who have come off the streets, into safe housing, regular meals, education, love, care and attention. We have done this by sleeping 'rough' in cardboard shelters, going without food for 24 hours, and 'scavenging' for food, to help put us in the shoes of a streetchild, as well as running 'The Big Carwash'.
In March 2010 we ran our last Big Sleep and Famine event, and promised that whatever we did next year would be very different. Well, after given it much thought, we have been invited by Duncan Dyason, the Street Kids Direct Director, to join him next Easter on a trip out to the Manuelito Children’s home in Honduras.
