Worship II - A word from our Worship Leader:

When I first took on the role of Worship Leader, I did some reading around, as I was fairly unsure about what I was supposed to be doing, and what the role involved. One book I read was “If you want to walk on water, you’ve got to get out of the boat” by John Ortberg.  Just the title reflected exactly how I was feeling about the role of Worship leader, as it definitely placed me out of my comfort zone! In it, he talks about Worship, and the following quote resonated with me, and gave me much needed, but very simple, direction : to quote another well known source of inspiration : “It’s all about You…”! Simple but effective, this quote summed it up for me:

“I need to Worship because without it I can forget that I have a big God
beside me and live in fear.
I need to Worship because without it I can forget his calling and begin to
live in a spirit of self pre-occupation.
I need to Worship because without it I lose a sense of wonder and
gratitude and plod through life with blinders on.
I need to Worship because my natural tendency is toward
self-reliance and stubborn independence.”

When I get bogged down in details, decisions, rotas, etc, I re-read this quote, and it puts me back on track, and reminds me why it is so important to Worship, whatever form it may take!
